The Obituary Writer by Ann Hood

I love when an author tells two stories simultaneously then weaves them together.  There is always that bit of mystery that is waiting to be revealed.  Ann Hood's story of two women's struggles with love and life was enough to capture my attention to the last word. She told the story in two different generations centred around two major events, JFK's inauguration address 1961 and The Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906.   Life changing events, filled with grief and hope.  This one I recommend.
